Title

Peterborough Women's Committee fonds. -- 1977-1987. -- 2 m of textual records.

Biography / History

The Peterborough Women's Committee was a local organization which lobbied at various levels of government and also provided resource material on women's issues. The committee opened a resource centre for women, published a directory of services available locally for and by women, and held all-candidates' meetings. The committee was in existence between 1977 and 1987.

Custodial History

This fonds was created by the Peterborough Women's Committee and in the custody of Bernadine Dodge, last vice-president of the committee, before it was donated to the Trent University Archives.

Scope and Content

This fonds consists of records that were left when the Peterborough Women's Committee disbanded in 1987. The files provide a record of a decade of women's political concerns from a local point of view.
