Finding Aid

In a book entitled Radical Tories, the author, Charles Taylor, states that: [Stanfield] had sought to revamp the Conservative Party in the wake of the Diefenbaker débâcle, partly by attracting bright, new M.P.s, partly by trying to convince Quebecers that the Conservatives were more than just a party of les anglais, partly by establishing a "Policy Advisory Committee under Trent University's Tom Symons which produced a plethora of ideas." (p 194)

The headings on the file folders for this collection will be shortened to "P.A.C. to R.L.S." which is the abbreviation of Policy Advisory Committee to Robert Lorne Stanfield.

These papers include general correspondence, minutes, general information, and lists of clippings* sorted by year.

* In some cases the newspaper clippings and articles photocopied from various serial publications have been removed, and an appendix has been made, listing the clippings that were present. If this is the case, there will be a note on the finding aid directing the researcher to the corresponding appendix.
