TOPCAT Beta Test

Posted: 15 July 2014

Over the summer of 2014, an update was made available to the system that runs the Library Catalogue (TOPCAT). As part of this update, the Library has been able to update the look and feel of TOPCAT, as well as introduce a few minor new features. This update does not represent a major change in the functionality of TOPCAT.

The Library is now welcoming public feedback on the new design of TOPCAT, keeping in mind that major changes in functionality may not be possible within the current system.

Users may access the Beta test of the new design at the following web address:

http://192.75.12.3/uhtbin/cgisirsi.exe/x/0/0/57/49?user_id=TEST-E

*Please note that some features of TOPCAT may redirect users back to the current version of the catalogue due to the nature of the test environment.

Please send feedback to Dwayne Collins (Learning & Liaison Librarian) at dwaynecollins@trentu.ca. If reporting errors or problems, please include as much detailed information as possible, including screen shots (if possible) and web browser type & version, in order to assist us with trouble-shooting efforts.

TOPCAT Beta Test -- Known Issues

The following are known issues with the TOPCAT Beta Test design:

  • Address Footer and Bottom Menu will switch places on some pages;
  • Type & Location pull-down menus available on Advanced Search and Search Limits pages show all available options instead of consolidated user-oriented options;
  • American spelling of 'Catalog' dominant throughout site.
