Trial to Replace Print Law Resources

Update: November 4, 2013

The trial period for these databases is over.  We didn't receive very much feedback, which leads us to believe there's minimal interest.

It's not too late to send your comments.

On the SRI page we've listed some print products that are possible cancellations.  They're expensive and labour-intensive to maintain.  Let us know if you've been using the legal resources we may be cancelling, and if they're covered in either of the LexisNexis databases.  Post your comments on the SRI page for a public conversation or send an email to libraryhelp@trentu.ca.

Trial InformationWe have a trial for LexisNexis Academic Plus and Quicklaw for the month of October.  There have been requests for these resources to support courses dealing with legal issues.  Our SRI (Subscription Review Initiative) has shown that we can cancel several print subscriptions to pay for ONE of these, as long as the material is covered.  We need your help in identifying how the legal resources are currently being used, and whether they can be replaced.  Please send us your comments.

We need to know:

  • What legal resources you currently use.
  • Whether the same material can be found in either LexisNexis Academic Plus or Quicklaw.
  • Which of the two databases is most effective for your use.  (We simply can't purchase both.)

Send your comments to libraryhelp@trentu.ca or post them on the SRI page for Legal Resources.  See the guide for a list of resources slated for cancellation.
