RACER Turns 10 Years Old

June 18th marks the 10th anniversary of the RACER Interlibrary Loan service, one of the Ontario Council of University Libraries’ (OCUL) longest-running Scholars Portal services.

On June 18, 2003, 25 libraries at 8 OCUL member universities went live with the service. Those first participants were:

Trent University
Brock University
University of Guelph
Ryerson University
University of Waterloo
University of Windsor
Western University
Wilfrid Laurier University

Since then, 74 libraries in 20 OCUL institutions have handled 2.3 million borrowing and 2.8 million lending requests via RACER, representing an average of half a million requests per year!

RACER is a great example of the strength and longevity of OCUL's collaborative efforts to provide essential digital library services to universities throughout Ontario. Our special thanks go to all the Trent University Library staff who have contributed to the service over the past 10 years.
