Janice Millard retires after 40+ years at Bata Library

Bata Library bids farewell to Janice Millard!

Colleagues, friends and staff of Bata Library bid farewell to Janice Millard, Curator of the Archives and Special Collections Librarian at a retirement reception held on Tuesday, June 9th, 2015. Janice is retiring from Trent University after more than 40 years of dedicated service to Bata Library. Janice's work will leave a lasting legacy in the Library -  especially in the archives where she was curator since 2013.

Janice began working at Bata Library in 1974. Janice has held roles in all areas of the library including: acquisitions, reference, gifts and donations, serials and bibliographic services. Janice has been curator of the archives since 2013. Janice has taught classes to students in the Trent-Fleming Museum Management course, and has kindly lent her knowledge and expertise to the many visitors who visit the archives searching historical records, especially of the Peterborough area. 

In a recent article on MyTrent, Janice commented that she has always enjoyed her job at Trent. " Working here has always been interesting and the people I've interacted with over the years have been absolutely wonderful."

In honour of her dedicated service, Janice was officially bestowed the title of Librarian Emeritus at the convocation ceremony on June 3rd. Janice Millard officially retires from Trent on June 30, 2015. Janice was photographed with many of Bata Library's former University Librarians.
