  1. Note the name of this journal: Women's Health Issues. The term "issues" suggests it's scholarly. It sounds scholarly.
  2. Note the lack of headlines. This journal lists the table of contents on the front cover, but there aren't headlines. Every article is important and they don't use headlines to sell an issue.
  3. Note the cover. It is plain, with no colour photography. You'll read this journal because of the information in it, not because you want to look like the photo on the front.

This IS a scholarly journal.
