Ordering Materials from Bata Library

The Hold feature in TOPCAT is used to transfer items between library branches.

NOTE: During the relocation of the Bata Library collection April 27 - May 12, 2017, parts of the collection will be unavailable for several days.  This will slow down delivery of books.

Placing a Hold in TOPCAT

    Follow these steps:

    • Click on the catalogue record for the item you want to place a hold on.
    • In the record click the Place Hold link listed below Item Details (left side of screen).
    • Enter your user ID and PIN, select Oshawa Branch as your pickup location, and select an expiration date.
    • A confirmation message will appear once the hold has been placed.
    • You will receive an e-mail when your book is available for pickup at the Trent University Durham Library. This normally takes 2-3 days.

Note: If the book you want to request is currently checked out by another user you can still place a hold on the book. This puts you in line to get the item when it's returned, and prevents it from being renewed.

Durham students and instructors can only place a hold on Bata Library items, and Peterborough students and instructors can only place a hold on Durham Branch items.

If you have any questions or concerns while placing a hold please contact the Trent University Durham Library.

See the Library Tutorial on using TOPCAT for more information about how to search the Library catalogue.
