Beta Sigma Phi (Peterborough, Ontario) fonds. Additions. -- 1955-2009. -- 1.3 m of textual records. -- ca. 1700 photographs.

BIOGRAPHY / HISTORY

Founded in 1931, Beta Sigma Phi is an international women's organization that focuses on stimulating personal growth and development of its members through cultural and social programs and through service to others. Members volunteer for such activities as blood donor clinics, daffodil day, and meals on wheels. The organization supports various charities. Beta Sigma Phi was established in Peterborough in 1944. In 2007, a new chapter called Beta Sigma Phi Ontario, Laureate Epsilon Lambda Chapter (Peterborough) was started. This chapter grew in size and in 2014 adopted a new name: Beta Sigma Phi, Delta Lambda Master Chapter (Peterborough).

SCOPE AND CONTENT

Fonds consists of 10 scrapbooks and albums of materials pertaining to Peterborough’s Beta Sigma Phi and local sorority chapters. Included are photographs, greeting cards, invitations, newspaper clippings, and memorabilia.

NOTES

Custodial History: Fonds was in the custody of Christine Annett before being donated to Trent University Archives in 2016.

Condition: Some items in the scrapbooks and albums have become loose from the pages. The material has an odour; there is no evidence of mould.

Immediate Source: Fonds acquired from Christine Annett in 2016 and Marjorie Clements in 2017.

Fonds Arrangement: Fonds retained in original scrapbooks and albums.

Accruals: This fonds, along with 13-001, is an addition to 10-008.
