Collaborative Space BL 201 Guidelines

The Bata Library Collaborative Space (BL 201) is an active learning room on the 2nd floor of Bata Library funded in part through a generous donation by David and Joan Moore. This proof of concept project by the Library, the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Information Technology (IT) supports collaboration and learning with wireless technology and configurable and accessible furniture.   The room is available for workshops, teaching, training, and meetings and also provides an ideal space for students to collaborate, practice presentation skills and meet for group projects. The room may be reserved through the online room booking portal.

Booking Guidelines

  • The room is available during library open hours only
  • Library, CTL and IT events have first priority when booking the room
  • Student groups of 4 and up to 20 may book the room for collaborative group work, meetings, presentation practice or other academic purposes
  • Faculty, staff and students may book the space Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm through roombookings
  • Bookings may be made up to four months in advance with a minimum of 24 hours advance notice.  Approval is required
  • The room may be booked for a maximum of 3 hours per day per person
  • Recurring bookings are not permitted
  • Faculty, staff and students may also book the space during evening hours (after 5:00 pm) and during weekends using roombookings. No approval or advanced notice is required
  • If the room has not been booked, it is available for casual drop-in use by individuals or groups. More than one individual/group may use the room at the same time by mutual agreement.
  • Registered bookings take priority
  • The Library Learning Zone policy is in effect for this room. The collaboration room is located in the Green Zone;  lidded beverages and snack food are permitted
  • Please respect the space and return the room to its original configuration when leaving the room
  • Be courteous to the next user by leaving the room prior to the time of the next booking.

Technology

  • 70” and 60” mounted display screens
  • Crestron Air Media presentation software - wireless presentation through Eduroam from any iOS, Android, Windows or Mac device
  • Webcam with microphone
  • Wireless keyboard and mouse
  • 48” x 66” moveable whiteboard
  • Whiteboard markers and eraser are available for sign out at the Library service desk. Please see the Reserves Borrowing Regulations

Faculty and staff also have access to the following:

  • 10 laptops with charging cart (coming soon!)
