Health Insurance
University Health Insurance Plan
International students are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan. Thus, they must register for the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP). UHIP covers the basic hospital and doctors' services in Ontario. This plan is mandatory for all international students. Students should register the first week of classes.
For more information please refer to the official University Health Insurance Plan website at www.uhip.ca.
How to register:
Pay your premium to the Finance office when you pay your tuition fees.
Please contact the Trent International Program (TIP) office for more information or visit the UHIP website.
Trent Central Student Association Health Plan
The Trent Central Student Association (TCSA) also has a student health plan that is included in your tuition fees. It covers 80% of prescription drugs and a few other benefits, including some dental coverage. Along with the UHIP plan, the TCSA plan provides adequate medical coverage for international students. For more information, please contact the Student Benefits Office at 705-748-1107 or visit their web page (http://www.trentu.ca/tcsa).
Trent University's Health Services office is located in Blackburn Hall. Students can see the doctor by appointment Monday to Friday, 9:00am-12:00pm and 1:30pm-4:30pm. For health assistance evenings and weekends, please visit the Emergency Department of the Peterborough Regional Health Centre (Civic Hospital).
