English Language Proficiency Requirements


Applicants who have not achieved the minimum grade required in English in the American School System, GCE or IB Diploma program are required to show some other proof of English proficiency. An applicant whose primary language is not English, or whose previous education has been conducted in another language, or who has studied for less than three years at an internationally accredited school where English is the primary language of instruction, must show proof of English language proficiency.

If you have not achieved the minimum grade required in English within the American School System, GCE or IB Diploma, you are required to show proof of English proficiency by any of the above-listed examinations.

If You do not meet English Proficiency Requirements


If you meet all of Trent’s admission requirements, except for the English language proficiency requirement, you are invited to apply for gradual admission through TRENT-ESL: English for University program. ESL students are tested upon arrival and placed in the appropriate program level based on their English proficiency. Upon successful completion of the program (CAEL score of 60 or higher), students are automatically admitted into undergraduate degree studies.
