Scholarships and International Awards
Setting the Standard for International Excellence
Trent International Program (TIP) offers a limited number of highly competitive renewable Full and Tuition scholarships to students eligible for admission to Trent, and who are not citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
These scholarships and Awards are tenable for up to four years of an Honours degree if a "B" average is maintained each year and are available for students entering the University in September. TRENT-ESL students are eligible to apply for International Scholarships and Awards upon successful completion of the TRENT-ESL program.
All students applying to Trent will automatically be considered for Trent University Entrance Scholarships, awarded for academic excellence. These range in value from CDN$1,000 to CDN$2,500.

Trent International Global Citizen Scholarships and Awards
Trent International Full Scholarships
• Criteria: Based on outstanding academic achievement, community and/or international service, excellent record of extra-curricular activities and leadership, as well as an assessment of financial need.
• Value: Approximately CDN$22,000 per academic year (8 months). Covers international tuition and ancillary fees. Depending on need, may also include books, health insurance, room and board (for the eight-month academic year, Sept- April) and/or living expenses.
• Quantity: 3-5
Trent International Tuition Scholarships
• Criteria: High academic achievement, community and/or international service, excellent record of extra-curricular activities and leadership.
• Value: Approximately CDN$14,000 per academic year (8 months). Covers international tuition, ancillary fees, and health insurance (for eight -month academic year, Sept-April).
• Quantity: 2-4
Trent International Levy Tuition Scholarship
• Criteria: Based on high academic achievement, community and/or international service, excellent record of extra-curricular activities and leadership. Open to students from developing countries. Funded by Trent University students through an annual levy.
• Value: Approximately CDN$14,000 per academic year (8 months). Covers international tuition, ancillary fees, and health insurance (for eight- month academic year, Sept-April).
• Quantity: 1
Trent International Awards
• Criteria: High academic achievement and a good record of extra-curricular activities. Preference given to top candidates in scholarship competition.
• Value: Approximately CDN$1,000-$3,000.
• Quantity: Varies, depending on the number of qualified applicants.
Designated International Scholarships
Trent University-United World College Scholarships
• Criteria: Open to UWC graduating students nominated by their home UWC. Based on outstanding academic achievement, community and/or international service, excellent record of extra-curricular activities and leadership, as well as an assessment of financial need.
• Value: approx. CDN$ 22,000 per academic year (8 months). Covers international tuition and ancillary fees, health insurance, room and board. Depending on need, may also include books, and some other miscellaneous expenses.

Jack Matthews International Full Scholarship (Pearson College of the Pacific)
• Criteria: Open to graduating students from Pearson UWC of the Pacific and nominated by Pearson UWC, based on outstanding academic achievement, international service, excellent record of extra-curricular activities and leadership.
• Value: approx. CDN$ 21,000 per academic year (8 months). Covers international tuition and ancillary fees, health insurance, room and board. Depending on need, may also include books, and some other miscellaneous expenses.

Trent University Entrance Scholarships
All students, Canadian and International, applying to Trent will automatically be considered for Trent University Entrance Scholarships, awarded for academic excellence. These range in value from CDN$1,000 to CDN$2,500.
Scholarships for Canadian Citizens
Trent's most prestigious scholarships, the Champlain Scholarships, the Board of Governors' Leadership Scholarships, and the Trent University Special Admissions Scholarships, are renewable scholarships awarded to new Canadian students entering the first year of study who have displayed exceptional academic and extra-curricular achievement, and who are judged likely to make a significant contribution to the life of the University.
The Champlain Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded to entering students of exceptionally high academic achievement and promise. They have an overall value of $15,500 consisting of $8,000 in the first year for students in residence ($2,500 if not in residence), and $2,500 in each of the succeeding three years providing that scholarship standing of 80 percent is maintained.
The Board of Governors' Leadership Scholarships
This scholarship is awarded to an entering student who has shown outstanding leadership and involvement in his/her community as well as high academic achievement. It has an overall value of $10,000 consisting of $4,000 in the first year, and $2,000 in each of the succeeding three years providing that scholarship standing of 80 percent is maintained.
The Trent University Special Admission Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded to entering students of outstanding academic and extra-curricular achievement. They have an overall value of $7,500 consisting of $3,000 in the first year, and $1,500 in each of the succeeding three years providing that scholarship standing of 80 percent is maintained.
Scholarship Application and Deadlines for September 2007 Session

• Trent International Global Citizen Scholarships Deadline is March 1, 2007.
