Honours Degree Programs

New Degree Requirements (in place as of September 2005)

Students starting their program beginning in September 2005 and beyond must use these requirements; students starting their degree program prior to the September 2005 may use these requirements if they choose (if they choose not to, they must use the old degree requirements as outlined in the calendar in any year they attended Trent).

Single-major Honours Program

The program consists of at least 10 credits in International Development Studies. The program must include:

IDST 1000 (IDST 100)
IDST 2000 (IDST 200)
IDST 3100 (IDST 310)
• 1 fourth year IDS credit from Category A
• 1 additional fourth year IDS credit from Category A, B or C.
• 5 additional IDS credits, of which no more than 1 credit from Category B, and no more than 1 credit from Category D

Joint-major Honours Program

Minimum 7 credits in International Development Studies, including:

IDST 1000 (IDST 100)
IDST 2000 (IDST 200)
• 1 fourth year IDS credit from Category A
• 4 additional IDS credits, of which no more than 1 credit from Category B, and no more than 1 credit from Category D.

Old Degree Requirements (in place prior to September 2005)

Students starting their degree program prior to September 2005 may use these requirements (or they may opt to use the new requirements that were adopted in 2005 if they choose); these requirements do not apply to those students starting their program beginning in September 2005.

Under the old degree requirements, one credit in a support course may be counted towards the minimum number of IDS credits in each program.

Single-major Honours Program

IDST–ECON 231H and IDST-ECON 333H
• one full credit from:
IDST 400, IDST 422, IDST 4971H, IDST 4972H, IDST-ANTH 475H, IDST-ANTH 476H, IDST-CAST-POST 424H, IDST-ERST-POST 461H, IDST-POST 423H, IDST-SOCI 470H
• one other 400-level IDS credit
• 4 additional credits in IDS
• Economics 101H and 102H
