Clickers at Trent
Information for Instructors

Trent's chosen student response system is i>clicker. Please follow the links below for more information about clickers at Trent.

Benefits of student engagement

Research over the last twenty years, especially in the field of physics, has shown that the traditional lecture approach (a predominantly unidirectional flow of information from the instructor to students) is not very successful in facilitating learning. In contrast, a high level of student participation in the classroom allows for deeper understanding of the material and increased enjoyment of the course. Click here to read more about how clickers are being used at Trent University.

New course adoptions may be made for the Winter 2012 term by contacting the Trent University Bookstore and the Instructional Development Centre prior to October 31, 2011 (the bookstore requires advance notice to order and receive sufficient numbers of clickers in advance of the start of classes).

Classroom frequencies

The hand-held clicker devices communicate with the iClicker receiver through a radio frequency. Now that we have several courses using clickers at Trent we have had to designate clicker frequencies to specific classrooms.

Please use the frequency that is assigned to each classroom/lecture hall to ensure that there will not be any conflicting frequencies at any given time. If the classroom you are teaching in does not appear in the table below, please contact Angie Best.
