**NEW UPPER YEAR INFO FOR RESIDENCE**
Upper Year/Returning Students Policy:
Returning/Upper year students applying to residence for the following year must be returning to full-time studies and is in good academic standing. In addition to the minimum requirements above, applications for readmission are based on a number of factors, particularly the resident’s contributions to the residence community.
The factors that are considered include, but are not limited to the following (in no particular order of importance):

The resident has maintained and respected their community, suite and room, by keeping it clean and damage free and returned it to move-in condition at the end of the year.

The Resident contributed positively to the community through participation.

The Resident has not been involved in any incidents that were a breach of Residence Standards
Housing Services will be checking for residence standards violations and the seriousness of those violations. Together with your participation, residence standards violations and your CRLC input, we will make a decision on your acceptance to residence.
For All Students:
- A $30 non-refundable residence application fee must accompany the application to be considered for residence. The date that this is paid is the date you join the first-come first-serve line.
Payment Methods:
- Payments can be made online by following the link embedded in the application.
- Payment can be made over the phone (credit card) or in person at Housing Office in Blackburn Hall (cash, cheque, credit card).
- Payment by mail: a cheque may be sent to Housing Services made out to 'Trent University'.
Residence Assignment Information:
- Assignments will be completed on a first-come, first-served basis subject to availability.
- If you apply for Residence and pay the $30.00 application fee by June 1st at 4:00 pm 2012 you are guaranteed a space in residence. Although every effort will be made to try give your first choice of residence we cannot guarantee your choice. Assignments will be completed on a first-come, first-served basis subject to availability.
- Acceptance of the Residence assignment and a residence advance payment of $500 MUST be submitted by the due date noted on the Residence Assignment offer- even if you wish to be wait listed for your choice.
- If an applicant chooses to cancel the residence assignment prior to or on July31st 2012 at 4:00 pm they will receive a refund of $350. Students who cancel after July 31st 2012 deadline will forfeit the full $500 payment.
- Applications will not be processed until the residence application fee is received.
