  • Availability of suitable academic resources
  • Command of relevant language(s)

Application Tips

Plan of Study

The Plan of Study is very important to the admission process.

It should contain the following elements:

  • The area(s) of history of interest to you.
  • The research topic you would like to pursue during your M.A. studies, and a brief comment on its historiography/works that influenced you.
  • Your background preparation in relation to the research topic.
  • Language skills (if applicable).
  • Comment on your interest in Trent History M.A. Program.

Contact a potential supervisor

Our website offers a full listing of Trent History graduate faculty and their profile. Consider contacting those working in your general area of interest, and enter into a discussion about the research you would like to undertake. Alternatively, you can ask the Graduate Director to make the contact on your behalf. Since the availability of a supervisor is one of the conditions of acceptance, you may want to be proactive on this issue.
