History Honours Information

For details of the requirements for the honours degree, please see appropriate sections of the current Trent University Academic Calendar.

Why do honours?

The honours program provides you with the opportunity to study history in greater breadth and depth.  In the fourth year the emphasis is on reading and research and there are fewer lectures and exams.  Honours History also provides the grounding necessary for admission to graduate and professional studies, and is increasingly the standard in other areas.

Prerequisites for your honours year:

The completion of all 1000 to 3000 level History courses required for a general B.A. in History.

The single-major Honours program

At least 9 credits in History, including:

     –   1 credit at the 1000-level
     –   3 credits at the 2000- or 3000-level
     –   2 credits in addition to the above, at the 3000-level
     –   3 credits at the 4000-level
