Pre-Application Answers

1. Where can I get an Application Package for Trent Graduate Studies?

1. Trent's online application is the fastest and most convenient way to apply to Trent Graduate Studies. Applying online ensures that both Graduate Studies and the program you apply to get your application quickly. If you cannot access the internet, you can request an information package or paper application from The School of Graduate Studies.

2. I want to apply to Trent.  What should I do?  Do I apply directly to Graduate Studies?

2. Applications for all Trent Graduate Studies programs are handled through The School of Graduate Studies.  Once an application is complete, individual programs are sent the files and admission decisions are made. Program departments do not process Graduate Studies applications.  Please do not send supporting document to the program office. 

3. How do I pay the application fee?

3. Applications will not be processed unless the Application Fee is received. Payment is made at the time of application online using a credit card or payable by cheque or money order to the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (do not make cheques payable to Trent University).

4. I don't have a credit card.  How can I pay my application fee?

4. The application fee can be paid by cheque or money order to the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (do not make cheques payable to Trent University).

5. Can my application fee be waived?

5. The application fee requirement cannot be waived or deferred.

6. Is the application fee refundable?

6. The application fee pays for the evaluation of your application, and is not refundable.

1. All supporting documents should be sent to:

2. I may miss the deadline.  Can I still apply?

2.Please contact the program you wish to apply to for approval to apply after the deadline.

If you have missed the application deadline please do not submit an online application until you have received approval from the specific program. Application fees are non-refundable.

3. What TOEFL scores do I need?

3. You can check the TOEFL scores required by Trent Graduate Studies on the Trent website at:

4. Should I list all the schools I have attended?

4. Yes.  Include all post secondary institutions you have attended. You do not need to submit any information or documents related to highschool or CEGEP.

5. What does "Degree Conferred" mean?

5. You degree is conferred once you have received the diploma for your degree. If you have finished your degree requirements, but have not yet received your diploma, then your degree has not yet been conferred.

6. I am still in University, but plan on finishing soon.  What should I fill in on the application?

6. Fill out the application with information that is current as of the day you apply.  Information that changes or updates after you apply can be sent to The School of Graduate Studies directly.

Post-Application Answers

1. What is the status of my application?

1. Once you have received confirmation that all necessary documents have been received and your application file is complete, you may experience a delay in the next correspondance. Please allow a reasonable amount of time for the Department to review all applicant files and make decisions for admittance.  Offers of admission go out starting the first week of March.  Contact The School of Graduate Studies if you have questions or concerns.

2. I have sent in my documents.  How do I confirm you have received them?

2. All admission documents are received by The School of Graduate Studies. We do not contact applicants as each piece arrives.  We will contact you if documents remain outstanding.   If you would like to confirm your documents arrived, please contact graduate@trentu.ca or The School of Graduate Studies.

3. I submitted my application online and some of my information has since changed, what do I do?

3. Unfortunately, your information cannot be changed once you have submitted the online application.  Information that changes or updates after you apply can be sent to The School of Graduate Studies directly.
