Other Important Things to Know about your Student Account

1. During July 2011, students will receive detailed fee information pertaining specifically to each student by logging into their MyTrent. Full fees or first instalment will be due August 15, 2011.

2. Students with confirmed OSAP to meet the minimum payment and deferring their payment after the deadline will be charged a $35 deferment fee since OSAP is not released prior to the fee deadline date. The University is able to confirm OSAP funding. Students with confirmed OSAP awards need only to negotiate their loan documents with the Financial Aid department when they arrive on campus and do not need to contact either Financial Aid or Student Accounts to request a deferment.

3. As most student registration is complete until the month of September, invoices will not be distributed to bill students for completed registration. Students will receive fee worksheets to their MyTrent account and an on-line fee calculator will allow students to calculate fees due for registered/unregistered credits. Electronic access will be increasing and mailings to home addresses are being discontinued.

4. The University is working toward providing detailed fee invoices based on completed registration and will provide more details as the project progresses. Please check the news items on your student portal for further updates.

5. The fees quoted on the fee calculator exclude housing/meal charges books and special course related fees. Instructors will advise students during class of additional course fees for field trips or supplementary material etc.

6. Students who are in residence and have not paid 1st instalment / 2nd instalment of tuition and residence are subject to the conditions outlined in their contract with the Housing Office.

7. Health and Dental benefits are not to be deducted from the August 15, 2011 payment. Refunds for opting out are provided by the Trent Central Student Association or Trent Oshawa Student Association. The llast date to opt out with proof of alternative coverage is September 30, 2011.

8. Students not paying in full by August 15, 2011 will be charged an instalment fee of $60.00 (subject to change).

9. A deferment fee of $35 will apply to OSAP payments and sponsored student accounts.

10. A $75 late fee will apply if full payment or 1st instalment is not received on or before August 15, 2011. The late fee will also apply if the 2nd instalment payment is not received on or before January 16, 2012.

11. Late admit student payment is due two weeks after their admission date.

12. A service fee of $40 will be charged for any payment which cannot be processed.

13. A service fee of $14 will be charged for all international wire transfers.

14. Students are responsible for payment of all courses taken regardless of successful completion.

15. Student tax forms (T2202a and T4a) for 2011 will be available to all students on their myTrent student portal by February 28, 2012. This iinformation requires a personal login by the student and may be accessed under the myAccount tab. The University will no longer be providing hard copies of tax forms that have been sent electronically to the student portal. For parents who require this information to file their taxes, it will be the responsibility of the student to provide this information. Duplicate copies of tax forms from prior years are subject to a fee of $18.50 for each document requested. Residence fees are not eligible for the tax form and any inquiries relating to this ineligibility should be directed to the Canada Revenue Agency.

16. Students with outstanding account balances will have their access to myTrent restricted until full payment is received.

17. Failure to make financial arrangements for outstanding balances could result in collection agency activity.

18. Academic withdrawal/course drop dates (are different than financial cutoff dates for the purposes of refunding. It is the student’s responsibility to be familiar with these dates.

19. Students who completely withdraw from the University prior to the start of the academic year will be subject to an administrative charge. Students who have registered for the 2011 academic year but do not intend to return in September 2011 must contact the Registrar’s Office in writing and follow proper withdrawal procedures or they will be responsible for full fees.
