Event Description

Please join us to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Trent University as we thank the community & citizens of Peterborough, which has so graciously been home to our school and students for the past 50 years.

The Community Parade and Celebration will re-create the original parade and opening ceremonies of 1964, featuring live music and special presentations sponsored by the City of Peterborough. Stick around after the presentations and visit the Rubidge Retirement Home parking lot which will have live music, children’s activities, give-a-aways, hot refreshments and cookies.

Event Location

The parade will gather at 12:30 p.m. outside Trinity United Church on Simcoe Street, between Reid and Rubidge Streets. The parade will depart at approximately 1:00 p.m. and proceed south on Rubidge Street, ending at a stage on the street outside of Rubidge Hall, the original location of Trent University..

Event Details

  • The parade will gather on Simcoe Street between Reid Street and Rubidge Street. That small portion will be closed to traffic from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.
  • Once gathered in front of the Trinity United Church, the parade will proceed South along Rubidge Street toward Sherbrooke Street for about 500 metres to Rubidge Retirement Home, Trent's first home.
  • The stage will be on Rubidge Street in front of the Rubidge Retirement Home, to allow for a few presentations.
  • Visit the Rubidge Retirement Home parking lot after the presentations for an afternoon of fun with the whole family.
