Christmas 1952

Dear George:

Congrats to you, your lady and Cathleen! You see I follow your parental as well as your academic career – both excellent. You were always my bet.

I enjoyed the poems very much and feel very gratified that I anticipated their publication and general esteem. That first poem was equal to all the encomiums. And the others are very fine.

Our department has been struck hard in two months. First Joe Fisher and this week John D. The College has been in shock ever since.

Merry Christmas to all of you and a special one to the McRaes of whom I was, and am still, very fond. I see Bob occasionally. I feel proud that I had Betty and Bob in my class some years ago. Give my love to all of them.

Affectionately,
Ned
