My dear and beloved Earle:

I have just sent off a credential for you to J.B. Marshall of the Awards Committee. I have said that as a combination of scholar and creative writer there is no one in Canada to surpass you, and a number of other statements equally genuine from my heart. I do trust you get the scholarship.

I am sending along a copy of the Spike. I hope you and Esther will like Sir John A's inebriation and Blake's debates with that red-nosed gentleman.

Affectionately,
Ned Pratt
