March 24. [1944]

My dear Eddie:

It is grand news that you are going to be here with us again for a reasonably long stay.

Will you let me know your schedule. I want several parties – one particularly at the York Club.

A.J.M. Smith was up to see me last night, spent two hours. He is a tremendous admirer of you. He was hoping he might connect with you. He will be back in June. His anthology is going, though somewhat slowly.

It is grand that Benét has asked you to do that. What you have done for this country is beyond measure.

Love to Peggy
