[early Nov. 1943]
Here is an editorial on your book by B.K. Sandwell. Quite cordial isn't it? Pelham showed me a four column article on it written by P.D. Ross in the Ottawa Journal of which he is the owner. It is both critical and favourable in spots. But he has a few sentences very quotable. I haven't the paper but I give you the extracts.
'Prof. Smith's book is admirable. It is the most comprehensive anthology of Canadian Poetry and poets which has ever been published. The book is worth much more than the money. The Introduction gives an admirable survey of the development of Canadian poetry.'
