Dear Charlie:

How would this selection from Dunkirk suit your purpose? It might follow the sonnet immediately with two or three asterisks.

Feel perfectly free, of course, to reject it, if you think it inappropriate. After all, it is only an extract from a longer poem. Pelham likes it best of the whole piece.

Roberts, editing an anthology of patriotic verse, Flying Colours, had asked Pratt for a poem. Ryerson Press published the book in 1942.
