Dec. 30, 1940

My dear Herbert:

Thanks for everything. I should have replied before but a long cold kept me from attending to my duties.

That is an excellent thing on Hamlet. It just came to hand in the R.S. transactions. I am going to hand it around my class. It is so crystalline.

And many thanks for the Review – so generous of you!

Vi & Claire send their New Year's best to you.

See the note to 'Transactions' in the letter to Clarke, 21 June 1940.

Clarke had reviewed Brébeuf and His Brethren in Queen's Quarterly, 47 (Winter 1940), 483.
