Dear Mr Clay:

Did you not get my letter sent more than a month ago in which I asked for a number of poems from you so that I might make a selection? I sent it – I am certain.

I did not use the one you submitted as I do not want to over-stress the 'love side' of the contents.

We have the 'Free Press' on our tables here and I greatly admire your lively page. It is so readable.
