Dear Mr Editor:

Thank you very much for your complimentary copy of Saturday, February 16. I had noticed the 'prize essay' in the Canadian Bookman when it appeared. I was not in any way distressed over the omission of names as there was the compensating value of being in such fine neglected company.

I appreciate more the esteem, with which I have been honoured from time to time by the Winnipeg Free Press, than that of any other half-dozen papers of Canada. The 'Free Press' is on our Victoria Common Room tables regularly and your literary evaluations and criticisms are read with an admiring interest. Keep it up.

Very sincerely,
E.J. Pratt.
