Where We Are

The Environmental and Resource Studies Program is part of Trent University, with a campus in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada surrounded by hills, forests and trails, and another in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada connected to the energy and opportunities of the GTA.

Walking and Cycling

Trent is located in northeast Peterborough. Walkers and cyclists can reach Trent University via road and trail.

Greyhound (bus service)

There is a Greyhound bus stop located downtown Peterborough with regular arrivals from other cities. They provide regular bus trips between Peterborough and locations throughout North America.

Coach Canada (bus service)

Go Transit

Connects areas from Hamilton through Oshawa by train and bus. Does not serve Peterborough Campus directly, but it does service UOIT/Durham College. [route map].

Can-ar Coach Service (bus service)

Provides bus services that connect Peterborough city with:

  • Cobourg & Port Hope (south)
  • Omemee, Lindsay, Bobcaygeon, and Haliburton (north)

Coming from Toronto (from the west) [download PDF]

  1. Take highway 401 east to the highway 115/35 exit.
  2. Continue on highway 115 north. This highway ends at highway 7 (at the traffic lights), and the road continues north of this intersection, changing name to Television Road. Continue north on Television Road.
  3. Continue north on Television Rd. to Parkhill Road (just past a gas station on the right) and turn right (east)
  4. Continue east on Parkhill Rd. to University Road (after going down and up a hill), and turn left (north).
  5. Continue north on University Road until it ends at Nassau Mills Road, and turn right.
  6. Follow Nassau Mills Road, under the Trent University footbridge over the Otonabee River (1st bridge encountered over the road), turning right at East Bank Drive (first right after the footbridge).
  7. Park in the first parking lot on the left (the visitors parking lot- pay and display).
  8. Walk through the staff parking lot to the Environmental Science Centre, the building closest to the Otonabee river (the building is signed at the turning circle entrance), and take the outside stairs from the turning circle up to the second floor.
  9. Once inside, turn right and go through the set of doors; the Environmental and Resource Studies Program office is the first door on the left hand side, room ESC B202.

Coming from Ottawa, Ontario (from the east) [download PDF]

  1. Take highway 417 west out of Ottawa until you reach the highway 7 turnoff.
  2. Follow highway 7 west to Television Road (found at the eastern outskirts of Peterborough, just prior to entering Peterborough proper) and turn right (north).
  3. Continue north on Television Rd. to Parkhill Road (just past a gas station on the right) and turn right (east)
  4. Continue east on Parkhill Rd. to University Road (after going down and up a hill), and turn left (north).
  5. Continue north on University Road until it ends at Nassau Mills Road (also known as River Road), and turn right.
  6. Follow Nassau Mills Road, under the Trent University footbridge over the Otonabee River (1st bridge encountered over the road), turning right at East Bank Drive (first right after the footbridge).

  1. Take highway 11 south out of North Bay down to highway 60 turnoff (at Huntsville).
  2. Take highway 60 east to highway 35 (at Lake of Bays).
  3. Travel highway 35 south to highway 121 (just south of Minden).
  4. Travel highway 121 south to highway 49.
  5. Travel highway 49 south to highway 36 (at Bobcaygeon).
  6. Travel highway 36 east to highway 23 (at Buckhorn).
  7. Travel highway 23 (also called Buckhorn Road) south to highway 29 (also called Lakefield Rd.); turn right (continuing south).
  8. Travel highway 29 south to Nassau Mills Rd (also called River Road or highway 32) (this intersection is the first light you encounter on highway 29). Turn left.
  9. Travel past the Trent University main entrance, over the Otonabee River, over the canal, and under the Trent University footbridge crossing the Otonabee River (1st bridge encountered over the road), turning right at East Bank Drive (first right after the footbridge).
  10. Park in the first parking lot on the left (the visitors parking lot, pay & display).
  11. Walk through the staff parking lot to the Environmental Science Centre, the building closest to the Otonabee river (the building is signed at the turning circle entrance), and take the outside stairs from the turning circle up to the second floor.
  12. Once inside, turn right and go through the set of doors; the Environmental and Resource Studies Program office is the first door on the left hand side, room ESC B202.
