Internal Funding
All students in the Public Texts program are guaranteed a minimum of approximately $13,505 of funding. In addition, a number of Research Assistantships ($5000) are available. Students in the thesis stream are eligible for two years of funding.
Teaching Assistantships and Research Fellowships
Funding is provided through a combination of Teaching Assistantships ($9,505) and Research Fellowships ($4,000). Teaching Assistantships require ten hours of work per week for twenty-four weeks in the Fall and Winter semesters; Research Fellowships, which do not have any teaching requirements, are held in the Summer semester.
Research Assistantships
A number of Research Assistantships ($5,000) are also available. Students hold Research Assistantships in addition to the $12,700 for the Teaching Assistantships and Research Fellowships .
Other Internal Support
Students may apply for up to $170 to cover travel and conference expenses. A number of Awards, Prizes, Bursaries and Scholarships, including Entrance Scholarships, are also available.
External Funding
All students planning to apply to the Public Texts program are urged to apply to external agencies for funding. All Canadian citizens are eligible for Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) scholarships and Ontario citizens are eligible for Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) scholarships. Major scholarship holders will be eligible to hold a Teaching or Research Assistantship but not the $4,000 Research Fellowship.
