Emphasis in Teacher Education

The Emphasis in Teacher Education is available to students in a Single or Joint Honours Program at Trent who are preparing to teach at the Elementary or Secondary level, and who plan on applying to a consecutive teacher education program upon completion of their Honours Degree.

The Emphasis does not guarantee admission to any Consecutive B.Ed. program, but the transcripts of students graduating with an Honours degree, who have successfully completed the requirements of the Emphasis, will contain the notation "with an Emphasis in Teacher Education."

Detailed information is provided in the Trent University Academic Calendar or check our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Registration

If you wish to register in the Emphasis in Teacher Education program, please follow the following steps:

  1. Navigate to myLearningSystem (formerly WebCT now Blackboard).
  2. From this hyperlink select LOGIN TO CE6. On the login page, choose "View Course List" and then "Courses that may allow self-registration".
  3. Click on the green triangle to the left of the course that you are interested in. A person icon with a green plus sign (+) will appear to the right which will allow you to register for the course. CLICK ON THAT GREEN PLUS PERSON to register for that course.
  4. Enter your TrentNet/email ID (don't include the @trentu.ca part) and your TrentNet/email password and click on REGISTER.
  5. The non-credit course should then appear on your myLearningSystem list upon your next login.
  6. If you have difficulties with this procedure, please submit a Blackboard/WebCT Problem Report stating the name of the non-credit course that you'd like to enroll in.

Annual registration on this site provides you with access to teaching and tutoring opportunities that may be of interest to you, and confirms your participation in the program.
