The Office of the Associate Dean of Arts & Science (Undergraduate Studies) supports a broad range of activities related to the undergraduate mission at Trent. The Associate Dean’s primary function is to support undergraduate programs and students.
One aspect of the portfolio involves responding to situations in which students are experiencing academic difficulty. The Associate Dean serves as principal administrator of the Academic Integrity Policy and is the chair of the Committee on Undergraduate Petitions (CUP). She also has responsibility for academic advising at the University.
Another aspect of the portfolio relates to the undergraduate curriculum. Courses and curriculum changes are assessed and reviewed closely by the Undergraduate Studies Committee, which is chaired by the Associate Dean. The Associate Dean oversees the production of the Academic Calendar to ensure the integrity of university offerings. The Associate Dean also sits on the Board of the Trent Centre for Community-Based Education, an organization that provides opportunities for students to earn university credit for involvement in community-based research and service learning.
The Associate Dean oversees the Instructional Development Centre, a centre dedicated to encouraging excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.
