Troy Bordun
Since coming to Peterborough in June '11, Troy Bordun has spent much time organizing a "scholarly space" called House (www.facebook.com/Hausu). In this space, in addition to the lending library, he does events and films on a whole range of topics. Troy also participate and occasionally helps organize other happenings around Peterborough.
Prior to starting the PhD Troy did a MA in Continental Philosophy at Brock University. His major research paper was on Georges Bataille's Inner Experience. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, graduating with a Philosophy Specialist and Literary Studies Minor. The undergraduate research paper was also on Bataille and his book The Accursed Share. Conference presentation topics have included: Merleau-Ponty's aesthetics, Deleuze and Guattari, Beauvoir, and Bataille.
Currently Troy is interested in film, particularly Japanese film; as well as philosophy of (or philosophy in) film, specifically as a medium portraying the (im)possibility of ethics/ethical relationships.
