College Induction, Scarves and Pledge
Each September, new members of Otonabee College gather at Wenjack Theatre and process as a posse to the athletics field where they are formally inducted into the college. This ceremony involves the recitation of the College Pledge (see below) and the donning of a unique college scarf, featuring the colours and crest of Otonabee. New members learn about the college motto, tempora mutantur nos et mutamur in illis, and about the many connections between college life and academic success.
Otonabee College Pledge
I promise to become a true collegian at Otonabee College.
I promise to devote myself to the serious pursuit of knowledge and truth, in order that I may contribute to my community and the society in which I live.
I will strive to manage my time and to develop my skills so that I can be a help to others who are less fortunate than I am.
I may make mistakes, but I will turn them into lessons, not habits.
I will seek assistance when I need it, and give it where I can.
I will respect my friends, myself, and this community which I now enter.
I will live by the rule which has guided men and women of Otonabee College over the years: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
I will remember that at all times I represent Otonabee College and I will bring no harm or shame to the College and its heritage.
