Federal Public Service Student Ambassador Program

Do you have questions about pursuing a career with the Federal Public Service?

Plan to schedule an appointment with Federal Public Service Student Ambassadors, Josephine Swanson or Lucas Parsche, who are current Trent students that worked at the Canada Border Services Agency this past summer under the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP).

They are excited to answer questions about working at CBSA, and what it’s like to work in the federal public service. They want to connect with other Trent students about how to apply to the Federal Work Experience Program, and can introduce you to hiring initiatives which may be of interest!

Contact publicservicecareers@trentu.ca to schedule an appointment with one of the GC Student Ambassadors today and follow @GCAmbassadorTU for up to date information.

Lucas Parsche

Hi! My name is Lucas Parsche and I am currently a business administration student here at Trent. I transferred to Trent in the Fall of 2016, and immediately fell in love with the campus and the university’s culture. I started working at the CBSA during the summer of 2017, having applied to FSWEP that summer. I was working as a student analyst, trying to cut down on the Agency’s phone bill. My workplace was in an office building in downtown Ottawa, where I frequently attended meetings and gave presentations to executives. I was asked to join the Student Ambassador program after receiving an email to join this new initiative. I’m excited to a part of this new service offered at Trent and I’m more than happy to help answer any questions you might have! Feel free to stop by during office hours or email me to ask any questions about the CBSA or life as a student in government!

Meet me in the Atrium of the Student Centre, 1st Floor, every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Josephine Swanson

Hi! My name is Josephine Swanson and I am currently a Trent student studying Forensic Science! I started working at the CBSA almost 3 years ago after applying FSWEP during my first semester of studies. I was working there for 2 years before becoming Student Ambassador in September 2017. During the school semesters I work a reduced schedule whereas during the summer months I work full time at the Inland Enforcement office. It sometimes can be tough to balance everything, but it is an amazing opportunity and experience to work in the federal public service, be a student, and help other students learn about these opportunities!

Meet me in the Atrium of the Student Centre, 1st Floor, every Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
