ARTICLE I:
Name : Biology Undergraduate Society (B.U.G.S.)
ARTICLE II:
Object: To provide a biology students an opportunity to meet and interact with other biology students, and to promote the awareness of the biological sciences.
ARTICLE III:
Membership: Any Trent student may become a full member by signing the membership list.
ARTICLE IV:
Officers: The officers of the Biology Undergraduate Society shall be a Chairperson, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.
ARTICLE V:
Duties of the Officers:
Chairperson: shall be chief executive officer, shall represent the members at all official occasions, and shall chair all official meetings.
Vice Chair: shall perform the duties of the Chairperson when necessary. The Vice Chair shall not serve in their graduating year, and be willing to continue as Chairperson the next year.
Secretary: shall be custodian of all official Club documents, shall take minutes at all meetings, shall keep the roster updated, and be responsible for the upkeep of the website
Treasurer: shall be responsible for keeping records of all financial transactions, shall compile a yearly budget, and shall be responsible for all funding applications.
ARTICLE VI: Biology Undergraduate Society Executive:
The governing authority of the Biology Undergraduate Society shall be vested in the BUGS Executive.
The Executive shall be composed of the four officers of the club, and one full member elected at large by the whole membership.
ARTICLE VII:
Finances: Club funds may be spent only after specific approval for such spending has been given by BUGS
The Chairperson and Treasurer shall act as Society signing officers
All motions passed at meetings shall become official Society Policy and take precedence over motions passed by the Executive
Quorum shall be fifty percent (50%) of all club members present at the meeting.
ARTICLE IX:
Records: A permanent record of BUGS documents shall be kept in the Biology Department office.
ARTICLE X:
Mandates: This Constitution may be amended only through the following procedure:
Adoption by a two thirds (2/3) vote of the members held at a General Meeting called for that purpose
Ratification by the Trent Club Committee
