The Trent University Figure Skating Club is a recreational club for those who love to skate. The club is open to Trent and Fleming students. We skate twice a week October through March with no skating at Christmas or Reading Breaks. Our talents are showcased at an annual end of year ice show performed in mid-March. There are options for competition and testing but are at the skater's responsibility. We welcome skaters of all levels and experience to come and join our team.

Jitsu Club

We are a non-varsity club established at Trent in 1993, providing instruction in traditional/modern Japanese jiu jitsu. Jiu jitsu is a grappling art which uses a wide variety of throws, joint locks, and some strikes, to form an effective system of self-defence.

This system, taught in the friendly club atmosphere, can be used by anyone irrespective of strength, weight or gender. Training is gradual and tailored to your individual ability, so you do not need a high standard of physical fitness. In fact, you will find that endurance, strength, flexibility and speed are all improved during training. As well as this your confidence, coordination and reaction times will improve.

You will find jiu jitsu an enjoyable way to improve your fitness while learning how to defend yourself. All you need to start is loose clothing. New members are always welcome to any class, at any time of year. Classes are held in the multipurpose room in the PSB Wilson Athletic Complex on Tuesdays (8.30pm to 10.30pm) and Fridays (5pm to 7pm).

Latin & Swing Dance Club

The Trent Latin and Swing Dance Club was created to produce a welcoming environment for those that want to share dance. We teach each other dances within the latin (mainly salsa with some merengue, bachata, chachacha, rumba) and swing (east coast, west coast, lindy hop) realms. Our dance classes are absolutely free.

We welcome dancers of all levels, and the environment is very casual - none of us are professionals. Dress is casual and you can come on your own or with a partner (we will be doing partner switching). We meet Wednesdays and Fridays from 3-4:45 PM in the MPR.
