Campus Rec General Information
Campus Rec Intramurals
- What’s available?
Leagues and Tournaments
There are several leagues and tournaments offered each term in Campus Rec, ranging from soccer, volleyball and hockey to innertube waterpolo, ultimate frisbee and squash. Whatever your interest or ability, there is something for everyone! For a current schedule of activities, pick up a campus rec flyer in the AC or visit: www.trentu.ca/athletics/campusrec. Descriptions of regulations and rules for each sport are available on the website as well.
Please note: All programs, schedules and events are subject to change or cancellation.
Levels of Play
Teams and players are encouraged to choose the level of competition which best suits their interest and skill: Recreational or Competitive.
Recreational Leagues
The ultimate goal of these leagues is fun through healthy, active participation. Recreation leagues are for those players with the desire to play but with less sport specific experience/skill. Beginners are always welcome.
Competitive Leagues
For the more experienced or skilled athletes. Competitive play or varsity level athletes should play here. Fair Play still rules these leagues.
Please note: If it is deemed a player or team has mistakenly entered the wrong division they will be removed from the program if needed. Moving to a different level will be dependent upon how full the league schedule, or teams are.
How Often Can I Play?
You may play for only one team in one level per sport (i.e. if you are on a competitive volleyball team, you are not eligible to play on a recreational volleyball team at the same time).
Aquatics
The Central sponsors a student only swim once per week each term. There are also many opportunities for lane or open swimming. Have a look at the campus rec flyer, or visit www.trentu.ca/athletics/aquatics for details.
Fitness
Trent University Athletics has an exciting group fitness schedule that includes everything from Yoga, Zumba and Bootcamp to Athletic Training, Pilates and Cardio Crunch. Try out our free teaser weeks at the start of the term and be sure to purchase your shoe tag so you can participate in everything! Check out the schedule at www.trentu.ca/athletics/fitness.
Drop-In Sports
Join us for pick up basketball, indoor soccer or drop by to play a game of squash. Basketball and Indoor Soccer are scheduled gym time each term, just come by with your student card to sign out a ball. Check out the current campus rec flyer for dates and times.
You can sign up for a squash court at the AC Reception Desk. Give us a call at 748-1257.

Fair Play is the Way!
Campus Recreation at Trent University aims to provide you with a variety of activities. Our goals is to get everyone involved. Our focus
is on participation. Fair Play governs all of our Campus Rec programs
and activities. Fair Play is a philosophy, an attitude, a practice, and ultimately a way of life promoting fairness, integrity, and respect in sport.
Fair Play Principles
Respect the rules
Respect the officials and their decisions
Respect your opponent
Give everyone an equal chance to play
Maintain self control at all times.
Never resort to or permit violence or abuse in any form.
Any athlete who contravenes the Fair Play policy may receive a suspension, lose their performance bond or lose their privilege of playing in the Campus Recreation programs.
Players who find themselves on a team that does not conduct themselves in the spirit of Fair Play should contact the Campus Rec Coordinator to see about being placed on another team.
We Believe in Respect
The Trent University Athletic Complex is a respectful environment that is strengthened by the diversity of our clients and staff. Visitors are required to treat everyone with respect. Trent University is committed to responding to and addressing situations of discrimination, inappropriate behaviour, and harassment, in a prompt and serious manner. Please contact the campus rec office (campusrec@trentu.ca) if you have an issue that requires attention.
Spirit Score
Every participant, player, captain, referee and convenor will all have an active part in upholding the Fair Play principles. A team's fair play will be measured through a rating structure of 1 to 5, called Spirit Score ratings. These scores are one indication of how well a team has upheld the principles of Fair Play in a game.
