BRONZE STAR (Lifesaving Society)
This course is designed to help prepare candidates for Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion. Bronze Star training emphasizes swimming skills and lifesaving fitness. Prerequisites: Recommended 12 years of age by course completion. Ideally taken just prior to Bronze Medallion.
BRONZE MEDALLION & EMERGENCY FIRST AID (Lifesaving Society)
Prepares the candidate to respond to a variety of aquatic emergencies and helps develop lifesaving knowledge, fitness, skill, and judgement. Rescuers will learn tows and carries, aquatic emergency care, basic life support, and releases in preparation for situations of increased risk. Prerequisites: 1) 13 years of age 2) Bronze Star, Star Patrol or Swim Kids 10 equivalent skills. (Includes Level B CPR Skills)
BRONZE CROSS AWARD (Lifesaving Society)
Designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training, and is the prerequisite for all advanced leadership certifications. This course is a continuation of the LSS Bronze Medallion. Prerequisites: 1) Bronze Medallion 2) Emergency First Aid

JUNIOR LIFEGUARD CLUB (Lifesaving Society)
Is your child looking for a new challenge? This fun and exciting activity gives swimmers a taste of lifesaving and lifeguarding while improving swimming skills. Participants will enjoy fun activities, learn about safe choices in and around the water, and have the chance to create public education materials and do some junior lifeguarding on deck during swims.
Prerequisites: 8 – 12 years of age, must be able to swim at least 2 lengths of the pool (50 metres)
ASSISTANT WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR (formerly Red Cross Leaders)
This method teaches the foundation of instructional skills including teaching methods, learning styles, communication, and safety. Upon successful completion of the course, students are certified as Assistant Water Safety Instructors, which allows them to teach Red Cross swim programs under the supervision of a Water Safety Instructor. Prerequisites: 15 years of age (by the last day of the course), Bronze Medallion, and the ability to perform AquaQuest 12/Swim Kids 10 strokes and skills (Unsure? Call us for a screening!)
SWIMMING INSTRUCTOR COURSE (Red Cross and Lifesaving Society)
This course will prepare candidates to plan, teach, and evaluate the swimming programs of the Red Cross and the Lifesaving Society. Prerequisites: 16 years of age (by the last day of the course), current Bronze Cross or NLS, Red Cross AquaLeaders (and 10 hours of in water time as an assistant instructor) OR Red Cross Leaders OR Red Cross Assistant Water Safety Instructor Course
NATIONAL LIFEGUARD SERVICE (Pool Option)
The NLS is the only nationally recognized lifeguard training program. The course will give candidates the skills and knowledge to effectively supervise a pool, and respond to medical and facility emergencies using a variety of techniques. Judgement, communication, public relations and teamwork are emphasized and practiced in the NLS program. Prerequisites: 1) 16 years of age 2) Bronze Cross, and Standard First Aid/Level C CPR Awards
