Three stalwarts attended what was probably the smallest British Isles Chapter meeting ever. Chapter President Gordon Copp ('76), Jane Robb ('76), and Simon Whittle ('75) were joined by a colleague of Gordon's from Poland, Joanna Grabowska (Univ. of Lodz). Besides the usual reminiscing over days at Trent, discussions included Jane's busy post-retirement activities, Simon's fine arts initiatives and Gordon's renovations of a late Victorian house. Gordon will be at Trent on 9 and 10 January 2012, visiting Prof. Michael Fox's laboratory and the alumni office. A possible date for the Spring Chapter meeting is Wednesday 28 March. We hope to see more Chapter members in attendance.

An impromptu meeting of the British Isles Chapter took place at Bournemouth University during a fish conservation symposium of the Fisheries Society of the British Isles. The Chapter President, Gordon Copp ('76; photo 3rd from left) was joined at a venue overlooking the English Channel (near Poole Harbour, Dorset) by special guest from Trent, Professor Michael G. Fox of the Biology & Environmental Resources Studies departments (1st on right). Also present were Trent graduate Demetra Andreou ('99; 2nd from right), Michael J. Godard (3rd from right; a graduate of Sir Sanford Fleming College and work colleague of Gordon's, so an 'adoptive' chapter member), Stan Yavno (a current PhD student at Trent, supervised by Michael Fox), and Prof. Steven Cook (1st on left), who works at Carlton University and was a guest chapter member by virtue of having applied to Trent when looking to start university studies (we have forgiven him for going elsewhere…, but only just !). The Chapter meeting was called to celebrate Demetra's recent appointment to the faculty of Bournemouth University's School of Applied Sciences, Centre for Conservation Ecology and Environmental Science. Congratulations Demetra.

Yes, it really was April 1st that our Chapter president, Gordon Copp '71, (photo 1st R) choose for this year's first British Isles Chapter meeting, which was held at the Phoenix Pub in the heart of the financial district of London, England. As always, we were a lively group of 'locals' (to London), made livelier by those from further afield, including chapter members based in Dublin and a visitor from Poland. From right to left was Chapter President Gordon Copp ('76), Jane Robb ('76), John (Leslie's partner), Michael Johnson ('70), Leslie McCartney ('80) (Dublin), Doreen Healey ('70), Sherry White ('70), and Joanna Grabowska (Lodz, Poland). The group drank a farewell toast to Tony Storey, wish to send him our heartfelt thanks for his help in establishing the British Isles Chapter and to Trent alumni affairs in general. The B.I. Chapter welcomed the current Trent President (Bonnie Patterson) a few years ago, so Tony, in your new found leisure time, come and join us in London some time soon!
