Robert Taylor-Vaisey

 

Bob is originally from Peterborough; he attended Trent for his B.A.(CC 1966-1970) and M.A. (1971-3), spent a year at St John's College, Cambridge (UK) and three years at U of T in pursuit of his Ph.D in mediaeval law. He held the role of Assistant Archivist at U of T and joined Imperial Oil in 1980, where he was corporate archivist and a senior document management consultant.  In April of last year, Bob retired from Imperial Oil's Law Department. He has been an active volunteer in his home community of Scarborough, his cottage community in the Kawarthas, and has served on  softball executives in Ontario and Alberta, taking his team to Canadian championships three times.  He lives in Guildwood Village in Scarborough with his wife Anne, empty nesters with their three grown children across the province.

Bob was on the Trent Alumni Council in the early 70's and for the past year has been a key contributor to Council's 50th Anniversary Alumni Planning group.

The Alumni Council is responsible for the affairs of The Trent University Alumni Association. The Council is a group of volunteers - most of whom are elected. It is comprised of a President or Co-Presidents, a Past-President, two Vice-Presidents, eight Councillors, two Association representatives on the University's Board of Governors, one Association representative on the University's Senate, one student representative of University's students, and Alumni Chapter Presidents. The Council meets at least five times a year, usually in Peterborough or Toronto, and hosts an Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association. All meetings are open to everyone in the Trent University Community. The council has a number of committees.

The goals of the Association shall be:

  1. to initiate and support activities which will further the interests of Trent University, its students, and its alumni ; and
  2. to foster a spirit of fellowship among alumni.
