Nominations for Honorary Degrees & Eminent Service Awards
The Committee on University Honours is seeking nominations for honorary degrees and eminent service awards. The Committee invites you and your colleagues to send us your ideas.
Honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) and Honorary Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) degrees are awarded to individuals in recognition of their contributions to academic life or to society as a whole.
The Eminent Service Award honours individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the life of the University (please see Eminent Service Award policy).
Nominations are accepted throughout the year and an on-going list is kept by the committee for future consideration.
Nominations received by mid-October each year when the committee begins to meet, will be considered for Convocation the following spring.
* To be considered for 2011, nominations for honorary degrees must be received by Monday, October 11, 2010.
Nominations are to be submitted in confidence to Julie Smith, Secretary of Senate, at the address below. Please include biographical information and a brief rationale of why Trent should honour the individual.
A list of previous recipients can be found here.
