Faculty Information (Trent in Oshawa)

All of the services listed for students can also be used by faculty in Oshawa.
Ordering New Books for the Trent in Oshawa Library:
Requests should be sent to Ken Field and John Wales .

Please note, that due to budget limitations, textbooks are not purchased with Library funds.  It is expected that your students will purchase any required textbooks.

Reserves:

Beginning in September 2007, a new electronic Reserves system (eRes) was implemented in Oshawa. There are strict guidelines to ensure that we adhere to copyright regulations. While we would like to move away from keeping print copies (when digital copies are available), arrangements can be made when electronic copies cannot be placed on reserve.

A password will be required to access the articles that are available electronically. Once your course has been added to the system, you will be emailed the password which you can then share with your students.

Click here to access the eRes system.

  Guidelines for submitting Reserves
A form must be submitted with each new Reserve article.
Books (JBC copies ONLY) will be added to the eRes software in order to keep all readings listed in one place. No form is required to put a book on Reserve - please email your list to John Wales .
If the source of the required article is owned by Trent (whether electronic or in print), the item can go on eRes as long as it stays within the "fair use" guidelines (i.e. 10% of a book or 1 chapter up to 20%; 1 in 5 articles in a journal/edited collection).
If the article is available electronically, please include the provider or URL in the "Additional Comments" field on the form. [If the item is owned by Trent and available online, you can save the form and email it to John Wales.
If the article is only available in print, please include a clean photocopy with your completed form.
If the source of the required article is not owned by Trent, it will be up to the instructor to obtain copyright approval and indicate compliance by signing the form.
If copyright approval is not obtained, a print copy of the article may be placed on Reserve at the Oshawa Campus Library Circulation Desk ("fair use" guidelines must still be followed and a form must still be completed).
Workshops:
If you would like to have a library workshop presented to your class, you should contact Ken Field.  Workshops can be tailored to your needs and scheduled at a time that is convenient to your class.
