The media collection (identified as audiovisual in TOPCAT) supports Trent University's instructional and research needs and comprises approximately 3000 titles in various formats including DVDs, CDs, and VHS tapes. Titles are available for classroom viewing or individual study.
All media titles owned by the Trent Library can be found in TOPCAT. See the Borrowing page for information about access to media. Individual titles can be booked by instructors for classroom viewing, through TOPCAT.
Viewing Media
New! The Trent Library has arranged to have a small number of our purchased films licensed, digitized, and hosted for streaming over the internet. A company called McNabb Connolly is providing this service. Titles were selected based on circulation activity, demand for materials moving between Peterborough and Oshawa, and availability of streaming rights. See titles and details.
A Viewing Suite has been created in the Multimedia Room on the Main Floor of Bata Library. The Media Viewing Suite has two VCR/DVD machines and 2 TVs for viewing videos, both DVD and VHS. A Viewing Suite key can be signed out by current students, staff or faculty at the Circulation Desk for 3 hours, to view these videos.
Purchasing Media
The Library acquires media upon the recommendation of faculty. Suggestions for additions to the collection are welcome and may be made through departmental Library Coordinators.
