Journal Guide for HIST 1001H and HIST 1002H (Oshawa)

Below is a list of journals that your course instructor recommends you use for your history research in this course. In order to help you find them, the chart indicates which databases index each journal. A "Y" in the column means that this journal is indexed to some extent in that database. You can search that database to find articles in that journal.

Search more than one database for extensive coverage. Try a variety of search terms - some will work better in some databases than in others. Be sure to look past the first 2 pages of results. Use the keyword searching skills you learned in the Library Skills Program.

Once you find a citation to an article of interest, check to see if there's a link within the index to the article online. If not, use the Get it! link to see if Trent has access to that article, either online or in print.

Articles that are only available in print can be ordered from our Off-Campus Library Services office. Provide us with the full citation and the call number of the journal and we'll photocopy it and send it to you. There will be a charge of $.10 per page for photocopies.

You don't need to limit yourself to the journals in this chart. Be creative in finding your own scholarly resources. These indexes cover many more journals than those on the list.
