policy and reference documents. There are links to related education sites.
The Ontario College of Teachers sets and enforces ethical standards and practices for teachers. College publications are available via their site, including their magazine Professionally Speaking.
The Ontario Curriculum Unit Planner is a software application and resource
library on CD-ROM that supports Ontario teachers in designing, sharing,
adapting, and managing instructional units, profiles, and resources. The
Web site provides access to several resources, including check sheets,
teacher companions, planner help kits, etc. Note that under Units there
are sample curriculum units for teachers of single and combined grade
classes, grades 1 to 8 in the areas of Mathematics, Science and Technology
and Social Studies, History, and Geography. The curriculum units are considered
to be resources written by teachers for teachers. The units were written
using the Ontario Curriculum Unit Planner. Accessibility to the units
in electronic format provides teachers with the opportunity to adapt the
units to meet local needs (e.g., delivery in a combined and/or multi-grade
class). They are available both in PDF and formats needed to be used with
the Planner CD-ROM. The secondary school profiles posted here are provided
for download in Planner-editable format (by teachers using the Planner).

The Trillium List contains the titles of those textbooks approved by
the Minister of Education for use in Ontario schools. The textbooks named
on the Trillium List have been subjected to a rigorous evaluation in accordance
with the criteria specified in Section 4 of Guidelines for Approval of
Textbooks.
National Book Service is a Canadian wholesaler of print, video and audio along with cataloguing and processing services to members of the academic, school and public library community.
They are not licensed to sell to the general public. Because their site is specifically geared towards educators and librarians their online catalogues and special bibliographies are arranged by school ages and descriptions of items include suggested grade levels. They have a store in Toronto that local school boards send their school librarians to for purchasing of materials.

Definitely a "must visit" for any KPRDSB teacher or Trent Teacher Candidate being placed in KPRDSB. Their collection is catalogued. MEDIANET is their online booking system. Teacher Candidates should contact their placements and make plans to have materials booked by their teacher supervisor.
