How Do I Print In The Library?Printing in the library is the same as printing in the computing labs. Login to a computer, send your print job, and then go to a Print Release Station to print it. Until you release them, print jobs are held in a central queue and can be released from any Print Release Station. There is a cost: 10 cents per page for black and white laser print jobs and $1 per page for colour printing. The printers, scanner, and print system are managed by the IT Department. Assistance is available through their website. You are only charged for print jobs you release, and jobs not released are deleted after several hours. Money can be added to your account using the machine on the 1st floor of the Bata Library. Printing is only enabled on the Novell machines in the library because Trent users have to login to their Novell accounts. You cannot print from the public access stations located next to the concrete wall near the Information Desk. Step-By-Step InstructionsFrom library computers you will see a print screen like the one below. PCOUNTER-COLOUR-HOLD will send print jobs to the colour Print Release Station. PCOUNTER-HOLD will send jobs that can be retrieved at any of the other print release stations. The colour Print Release Station is on the first floor of the library. Other release stations are on the first floor and second floor (main level).
Below are instructions for the most common type of printing needs you will encounter in the library. Internet Explorer is installed on computers campus wide so these instructions are for printing from this browser. If you require further assistance please see the Technical Support Centre help desk on the first floor of the library next to the Information Common. Select Your Printing Need
Retrieving Your Print JobOnce you have sent all the print jobs you wish to send, go to a Print Release Station. You will be asked to enter your username. Your username must be the same one you were logged in with when you sent the job. A list of all the print jobs sent by you will appear on the screen. Choose the one(s) that you wish to release by highlighting them. Then click on "Print". Your documents will be printed on the laser printer located beside the release station. If you have trouble with your print job, see someone at the Technical Support Centre (in IT, on the 1st floor of the library). If you choose not to print a document, don't release it. It will be deleted automatically in 24 hours. Print jobs sent from a library workstation can be released at a computing lab Print Release Station, and vice versa.
