Description

This group of e-journals covers scholarly information on all subjects. There are over 20 million articles from over 8,000 full-text journals on this site.

The content in Scholars Portal is hand-selected by subject specialists at the 21 university libraries that make up the Ontario Council of University Libraries. The content you will find in Scholars Portal comprises the most complete multi-disciplinary database of peer reviewed academic literature available anywhere. With a single-search, you can find material from the important journals in your field. You can track new issues in these journals using RSS feeds. You can follow citation links to explore different treatments of topics. You can explore historical dimensions of many topics by searching through extensive backfiles of digitized articles. (from the website)

Using a single interface you can search or browse to find results in full text e-journals.

Some index databases are also included which may not provide articles in full text.

From a list of results, select the items you wish to export by clicking in the box beside them. Then select the Marked Records tab and choose RefWorks.

From a full citation, click RefWorks.

RefWorks will open in a new window where you can login. Your records will be loaded into RefWorks in the "Most Recent" folder.

Stable URL

A stable url (or persistent link) is a link that connects a user to a particular item in a database or on the web.

You have options in the Scholars Portal Journals interface. At the bottom of the record (description) of each item find the informaiton you need. Look for this:

Screen capture of DOI and Permalink example

1. There is a Permalink at the bottom of each record which is a stable url for that article.

If it doesn't already include the proxy information, add the proxy prefix to the beginning:

Example: http://web2.trentu.ca:2048/login?url=http://resolver.scholarsportal.info/resolve/0273177/v44i001/23_tnspbaptf

2. Many journals in Scholars Portal Journals also use the DOI system to create a stable link.

To link to a particular article via DOI, look for the line that provides a doi and use it create a link.

Example:
DOI: 10.1016/j.asr.2009.02.013
Link: http://web2.trentu.ca:2048/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.asr.2009.02.013

To ensure off-campus access, include the proxy prefix:
http://web2.trentu.ca:2048/login?url=

3. Since this database also contains links to Get it! you can use the "Save Citation" data to create a link to the article.
