The OVID products include CINAHL, Medline, Evidence
Based Medicine Reviews (including the Cochrane databases), HealthSTAR, 8 reference/text e-books, and the 75 e-journals
that make up the OVID Nursing Collection II.
The Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health (CINAHL) database provides authoritative coverage of the literature related to nursing and allied health. Virtually all English-language publications are indexed along with the publications of the American Nurses Association and the National League for Nursing. Selected journals are also indexed in the areas of consumer health, biomedicine, and health sciences librarianship. In total, more than 1600 journals are regularly indexed; online abstracts are available for more than 1500 of these titles. There are more than 18,000 records with full text now included. The database also provides access to healthcare books, nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of professional practice, educational software and audiovisual materials in nursing. More than 11,000 CINAHL subject headings provide specific access to CINAHL citations. Many CINAHL headings are adopted from the National Library of Medicine’s Medical Subject Headings. CINAHL supplements these headings with terms designed specifically for nursing and allied health.
Produced by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, the MEDLINE
database is widely recognized as the premier source for bibliographic
and abstract coverage of biomedical literature. MEDLINE encompasses
information from Index Medicus, Index to Dental Literature, and
International Nursing, as well as other sources of coverage in
the areas of allied health, biological and physical sciences,
humanities and information science as they relate to medicine
and health care, communication disorders, population biology,
and reproductive biology. More than 12 million records from
more than 3,900 journals are indexed, plus records formally indexed
in Healthstar, Bioethicsline and Aidsline. Abstracts are included
for about 75% of the records.
Ovid HealthSTAR is comprised of data from the National Library of Medicine's (NLM) MEDLINE and former HealthSTAR databases. As such, it contains citations to the published literature on health services, technology, administration, and research. It focuses on both the clinical and non-clinical aspects of health care delivery. The following topics are included: evaluation of patient outcomes; effectiveness of procedures, programs, products, services and processes; administration and planning of health facilities, services and manpower; health insurance; health policy; health services research; health economics and financial management; laws and regulation; personnel administration; quality assurance; licensure; and accreditation.
Evidence Based Medical Reviews helps clinicians to find
the best answer to clinical questions in the least amount of time.
